In early August 2021, construction began on China's first 40-cubic-meter blast furnace for hydrogen metallurgy, designed by Henan Metallurgical Planning and Design Institute Co., Ltd. and initiated by Shanghai University, at Xingguo Precision Machinery Co., Ltd. in Changli County, Qinhuangdao. This is the first experimental blast furnace in China to replace coke smelting with hydrogen. It is equipped with two spherical hot blast stoves, a dry gas dust collector with a nitrogen-containing reverse-flushing system, a water-cooled furnace bottom and cooling wall system, a hydrogen station, a hydrogen injection system, a blast furnace pulverized coal injection system, a ore bin feeding system, a water-flushing slag system, one 100,000 m³/h dust collector, and one 150,000 m³/h dust collector. Upon completion, it will test hydrogen metallurgy, replacing some coke in the reduction of iron ore, making an exploratory contribution to reducing carbon emissions in my country's steel industry. It will also serve as an experimental exploration for peak carbon emissions in my country's steel industry, contributing to a cleaner and brighter my country.
